Snowdonia offers fantastic Mountain Walking and is an excellent location to improve your navigation and map reading skills. Guided Mountain Walks: Snowdonia is a fantastic area for mountain walking so what could be better than a guided day on some of the UK's best walks? Whether you want to go up Snowdon for the first time or tackle something more adventurous - like Tryfan - I can provide a day out that you ill not forget! If you are not sure on your objective then I can suggest several routes that will meet your experience and expectations. Max ratio 1:8
Mountain Walking Intro: This course is designed for those who have limited mountain walking experience and want the knowledge so that they can experience and enjoy the mountains in safety. Topics covered include basic navigation, route planning and preparation, choice of technical clothing and footwear, mountain hazards and flora, fauna and geology of snowdonia. Max ratio 1:6
Intro/Intermediate Mountain Navigation: A course for those with little previous navigation skills or for those who haven't the confidence to apply what they know to the mountains. Course will included use of a 1:25000 scale map, using a compass, contour interpretation, distance estimation by timing and pacing and much more. Advanced Navigation: If you are a regular mountain walker you may want to consider gaining further navigation training. Maybe you are planning the three peaks challenge and have never navigated in the dark or you are starting to head into the hills in adverse weather? Could you navigate of the summits in low visibility. I will take you through techniques and strategies that will drastically improve your navigation and improve your confidence. Max ratio 1:6
ML Refresher: This course is designed for mountain leader trainees who want to top up their skills prior to a ML assessment of for ML holders who have not worked in the industry for awhile and want to re-familiarise themselves with the ML scheme. Max ratio: 1:6 (1:4 for rope work) |
